Tranquilla Golden-Taylor is a Registered Marriage & Family Therapist Intern currently residing in Kissimmee, FL. Born and raised in Belle Glade, FL she always knew she wanted to make an impact on underserved communities. Being from a small town, she saw the impact of racial divide and socioeconomically disparities run rampant in her hometown. As such, she completed her undergraduate degree in Criminology from the University of Miami to study the historical context of the relationships between the criminal justice system and minority communities in an attempt to eradicate the problem from within. After working in the field and gaining connections with the Central Florida Reentry Network serving on their Mental Health and Substance Abuse Committee, she realized the mental health impact that economic and societal disparities have caused on individuals, particularly on how it caused discord and conflict within our households. As such, she returned to school for her Master of Science in Marriage & Family Therapy.
Tranquilla has experience in the criminal justice sector, research and development, teaching, and the mental/behavioral health field. Her unique blend of experiences offers her insight and compassion to work with individuals from all walks of life. Her clinical experience includes working with individuals, couples, families, and groups from ages 6+. She has worked with persons battling mental health issues such as Depression, Anxiety, Bipolar Disorder, Adjustment Disorder, PTSD, Grief, and Trauma. She also tackles behavioral and family issues ranging from substance abuse, family violence, and relational discord. Tranquilla primarily enjoys working with individuals to value and appreciate their most important relationship- themselves. To do so, she works using an arsenal of interventions derived from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Bowen’s Intergenerational Theory, Solution Focused Theory, and Psychoeducation to promote self-love, self-care, self-preservation, and self-compassion. By enthralling ourselves in these four capacities, Tranquilla believes we have the basis of everything we need to preserve ourselves and our relationships.
Tranquilla has one son, Jayden whom she absolutely adores watching grow into a young man. They enjoy volunteering together at Give Kids the World Village, taking day trips, watching cartoons, and crafting.
