Say Goodbye To Unwanted Hair For Good With Laser Hair Removal or Electrolysis

by Brandi Concolino

I have so many transgender clients visit me feeling frustrated. They think “I’m not fair-skinned with dark hair, so I guess laser hair removal just won’t work for me.” Wrong!

While past lasers may have been designed to only treat fair and feminine skin, technology has come a long way. Modern lasers can safely and successfully treat all skin types, providing permanent hair reduction for men and women. The only prerequisite to laser hair removal is that your hair color should be brown or black for the best results.

Laser or Electrolysis? Maybe Both to Remove Unwanted Hair!

Laser hair removal is ideal for eliminating unwanted hair anywhere on the body. It even works in the sensitive bikini area, underarms, and face allowing transgender clients to obtain smooth, feminine skin without razors, plucking or waxing.

The laser is attracted to the melanin in the hair, which occurs in higher quantities in brown and black hair. It’s true that lasers are very good at destroying coarse hair, but struggle to destroy fine, thin hair. That does not mean that if you have finer, thinner hair, you are stuck with it.

This is where electrolysis comes into the picture as another solution for unwanted hair. Although it is a longer process because it is a different method of hair removal, electrolysis is extremely effective in destroying hair that lasers cannot.

People who have both light and dark hair usually use both methods. We typically begin the process with laser because it destroys 45-60 hairs each time it’s fired, so it’s a very quick process. We then either do laser and electrolysis in tandem or we finish up with electrolysis. Electrolysis is also sometimes used to finish clearing an area that has been treated with lasers.

They are both very effective methods of hair removal and work very well together to eliminate unwanted hair. Over time, as the hair follicle is continually targeted, hair growth becomes weaker and slows. Eventually, it will stop altogether and reduce the need for touch-ups.

Discuss Your Options and Ditch the Razor

I can’t tell you how many times people have come to me and said “Oh, laser doesn’t work for me. I’ve already tried it and had little to no results.” I always tell them that not all lasers are created equal. I have worked with plenty of lasers that yielded unsatisfactory results. I can honestly say that our laser has given me the best results out of all the laser hair removal treatments I have tried. This is one of the reasons I offer a spot test during consultations; I love being able to show people that they can get the results they desire.

As someone who used to have to shave just about every day, I cannot tell you how nice it is to skip this morning chore. When I recently had a house guest, she said, “Do you have a razor I can borrow?” and I actually had to search for one. That’s not a bad problem to have!

I would love to discuss your unwanted hair removal options with you and how I can help you on your journey to becoming hair-free. Call me for a consultation and we can discuss which method is right for you.
